Blake Jones: Good Luck • Have Fun at Streams Gallery

Streams Gallery is delighted to present the solo exhibition "Good Luck • Have Fun" by Chicago artist Blake Jones. This exhibition will take place from August 4th to August 20th, 2023, marking the artist's first solo exhibition in Asia. Showcasing Blake’s illustrations with the iconic “bunny” character, these bunnies boldly leap into our presence, questioning us about whether pure happiness truly exists in the world and what form it takes. If these questions remain unanswered for now, let us accept the gifts bestowed upon us by the artist through his works - joy, luck and delight.

How has your day been? Are you troubled by similar concerns? The end of a relationship has left you at a loss; lofty dreams struggle to set sail, crushing your beliefs; the departure of a loved one sets you on a mournful journey, or perhaps the taste of betrayal has robbed you of the courage to trust others? Humanity is destined to experience a wide range of emotions, and we cannot predict when peculiar circumstances will unexpectedly enter our lives. Destiny does not easily allow us to escape the trials and lessons specific to our individual journeys. Blake Jones has long been aware of this reality, understanding that his life must encompass both hardship and trials, moments of sadness and despair. But does this mean we willingly succumb to being overcome and shattered by fate? The artist shares, "Even if everything on Monday feels sad and disheartening, why not continue to focus on ourselves and our own happiness?"

This exhibition takes us further into Blake’s world where he reinterprets elements and nature between emotions and colours. He points out that while blue usually intended to express a sense of sadness or despair, the characters in some of his larger works with a blue background remain undisturbed by external influences as they immerse themselves in love and dance, fully enjoying the pleasure within. The artist aims to highlight that happiness and absurdity, joy and sorrow are two sides of the same coin, inseparable. In life, heaviness exists because of lightness, the meaning and value of the antonyms is to make both ends significant. "In this uncertain period, it is better to focus more on ourselves with positive feelings and emotions.

Revolue: I Can Hear Me at Streams Gallery

Streams Gallery proudly presents: “I Can Hear Me” by Brazilian artist Revolue. Through this solo exhibition, new works of Revolue will be showcased, along with an additional selection of sculptures; altogether demonstrating his inclination towards experimenting and risk-taking in his artistic endeavours. As the title suggests, the exhibition serves as a means for Revolue to express his personal perspective on the world and his reflections on life over the past two decades. The show will run from July 7th to July 23rd and marks the artist’s first solo exhibition in Asia. Visitors can expect to be captivated by Revolue’s unique artistic style, which seamlessly blends classical techniques with street art influences.

In metropolitans where everything is accessible, our lives become heavily defined by our secular desires, leaving us no time to truly connect with ourselves. We surround ourselves with material possessions, adorn our bodies with extravagant clothing, and fill our time with the constant presence of technology. However, despite having seemingly attained everything we desire, are we truly happy? This question is at the heart of “I Can Hear Me”, an innovative art exhibition that seeks to explore the inner workings of our modern lives and invite visitors to confront their inner chaos and anxiety. Revolue believes that one of the greatest challenges for humanity is to truly listen to ourselves. “Listening to oneself is one of the hardest things we humans can do. We keep distracting ourselves and looking externally for any magic button that will allow us to avoid facing ourselves”, says the artist. Through this exhibition, REVOLUE invites all visitors to come face-to-face with their inner selves and engage in an honest dialogue of self-discovery and introspection. The objective is to encourage visitors to question the illusions of modern life and examine whether the pursuit of materialistic ideals truly leads to fulfillment.

Streams Gallery is proud to present Space In Between to Words - Alex Krueger solo exhibition in Hong Kong. The exhibition will be on view from 28th April to 28th May 2023.

From the mundane to the exuberant lifes, endless questions surrounds revolving around human relationships, political values, capitalism, identity, which made us indifferent towards the nonsensical and inhuman. The situation is described as “Kafkaesque”, referring to Franz Kafka’s view of a bureaucratic, lifeless and wordless society.

Entangled in a Kafkaesque paranoia, Krueger sees passionless people fenced up by barbed wires, incarcerated in a violent sea of intrusive emotions, seeking ways to express and escape, alas muted and trapped by the space between words and hearts.

Outline the thoughts,
Sum up the parts,
Fascia tangled around bone,
Gripped knots drive blood out,
Milk white bones,
Fat, hot and lubricated.
Six months later,
space IN-between to words.

We call it flux, limbo, preservation of a continual march.
Wayward to the sun, disposed of the heat.
We find warmth in the familia;
Fear lies behind every door worth opening.
Only self-made manufactured keys: dispose of locks.

space IN-between to words,

Visualised as condensation released from the breath.
The thaw before the break;
The adding up of facts, before the jump of the attack.
On a frost covered breath.
Like a steer in a field unaware of its own manufactured reality;
until right before death.
