Muted Humes at Para Site
It’s a group show about subtle signs, gentle body gestures and preserved memories, featuring recent works by Catalina Africa, Özlem Altın, Lêna Bùi, Oscar Chan Yik Long, SaodatIsmailova, Ling Pui Sze, Man Mei To, Christina Quarles, and Aycoobo-Wilson Rodríguez.
One of my favourite works is Pulse, an installation by Ling Pui Sze, that utilises shapes from cardiograms and personal letters from her grandparents. It’s not necessarily an attempt to transform the grief and loss, but rather to create a reminder and statement about the pulses and ripple effect of significant relationships in our lives.
