Leelee Chan: Hybrid Palimpsests at He Museum, Guangzhou

Very special show because I love Leelee’s works, but I only saw them as parts of group presentations or special showcases. Finally being able to see a coherently curated exhibition that highlights her approach to discarded materials and precious artefacts provides a much deeper understanding of her practice. Merging and mixing, transforming and juxtaposing, Leelee acts both as an archivist and an alchemist, playing with scale and sense of materiality. Very grateful for the chance to see it.
