Yee I-Lann: Until We Hug Again at Mills CHAT

Yee I-Lann: Until We Hug Again at Mills CHAT

A beautiful celebration of community strength, diversity, identity, reconciliation and collaboration by Malaysian artist. The exhibition is very humane in every aspect, be it historical and mythological narratives, the iconography of household objects, invented sign/hug language, Cantonese pop song’s lyrics woven by women in a traditional technique, or the video of a enchanting dance performance. Collaborative projects done with people for the people to connect, to share, to remember, and to resist.
Also made me remember ngatu from ‘Koloa: Women, Art, and Textiles’ shown at Para Site some time ago, mostly because of the very material representation of intertwined memories, cultures, and traditions.

Exhibition period: 1 September – 7 November
Venue address: The Mills, 45 Pak Tin Par Street, Tsuen Wan
