SC Gallery is pleased to present “INTERROOTED”, a duo exhibition of mixed media and painting by Hong Kong artists Man Mei-To and Rico Lau.
The exhibition title is adapted from the Buddhist term “the non-duality of body and land”(身土不二), which refers to the inseparable relationship between one’s actions and the surrounding environment. In reinterpreting this concept, Man and Lau arrive at a heightened awareness of the relativity between “body” and “land”.
Presented in a restrained and muted palette, the exhibition brings together bodily fragments and environmental elements through acts of assemblage. Through mixed media and painting, the two artists trace their personal observations of existing within a larger world.
