Twenty-eight years ago, Hong Kong photographer Rensis Ho captured a series of intimate portraits of Ryuichi Sakamoto during the legendary composer's visit to the city. For decades, those film negatives remained unseen, but now, thanks to local photography bookstore DEVEDO, they are finally being brought to light.

Thoughtfully designed around the tactile experience of a vinyl record, the new photobook Ryuichi Sakamoto 1998 pairs long-unseen images with a curated playlist featuring masterpieces like Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence and Beauty (Bibo no Aozora). It is a stunning visual and auditory tribute that lets Sakamoto’s lingering melody in Hong Kong resonate once more.

Following a sell-out exhibition in Taiwan this past May curated by DEVEDO, Blue Lotus Gallery is honoured to host Rensis Ho’s first official book signing, celebrating this rare chapter of Sakamoto's artistic legacy.
