Guan Weiwei: Silence at MAYAO

  • Hong Kong Hong Kong (map)

MAYAO is thrilled to present π˜šπ˜π˜“π˜Œπ˜•π˜Šπ˜Œ, the premier solo exhibition of Guan Weiwei in the international art scene. Join us for the opening reception on 1 August at 4:30 PM. In silence, we arrive at possibilities yet enclosed.

Guan Weiwei's art practice operates as an underlying strategy through historical distance, visual restraint to better open borderless extensions, connections and interactions. Beneath this seemingly detached visual language through simplified figures, abstract diagrams and grids, lies a subtle and complex technique to create a contemplative space in which viewers encounter the silences embedded in official histories.

This quiet approach invites viewers to question how history is constructed and whose voices remain unheard. Silence therefore becomes a method of revealing sincere perception, appreciation, memory, participation, displacement and regeneration.

Opening reception: 1 August, 4:30-6:30

Gallery address: Shop E, 10/F, Derrick Industrial Building, 49 Wong Chuk Hang Road
