Canton Modern: Art and Visual Culture, 1900s–1970s at M+
An engaging overview of Cantonese art and visual culture from the beginning of the 20th century until the 70s. Decades of developing the visual language, reinventing and adjusting it while simultaneously documenting the social changes it both undertook and created.
I was particularly interested in the chapter dedicated to the construction of Social Realism, I enjoy comparing it to the Soviet Union version.
