Jacqueline Kiyomi Gork: Gama at Empty Gallery
Before your eyes adjust to the usual darkness of the gallery space, you already will fully experience an auditory dissonance between the calming sound of running water and the jarring bursts of noise. This contrast between peaceful and violent, protective and vulnerable will continue throughout the whole exhibition. The title of the exhibition derives from the Okinawan word for cave, and the shards of red clay symbolize both physical cave walls and the metaphorical protection they provide — or lack thereof.
Exhibition period: 27.09–15.11
Gallery address: 19/F, Grand Marine Center, Aberdeen
