Gordon Cheung: New Territories at gdm

Using 3D printing and collage techniques to recreate historical objects and artifacts, Gordon Cheung transformed the gallery space into a Chinese garden with scholar’s rocks and window lattices casting ornamental shadows. By mixing symbolic representations of countries and powers that were historically active in the region, the artist suggests exploring the ways in which colonial history shapes modern identity.
