Absurd, exaggerated, and unsettling portraits. They aren’t meant to be humorous in an uplifting, feel-good way; if anything, they are sad and a bit dark. But there’s something recognizably human about them, something that makes them resonate no matter how theatrical they are. So the laughter and smile come at the end, born from “I’ve seen you, I know you, I’ve been you”.
