That artist: John Gale

That artist: John Gale

Ah, that’s one of my favorite tropes: a person returning back to art after having a more than successful career in a completely different field. Constantly sketching in live drawing classes he came to the idea of re-thinking Rodin’s The Thinker to create a female version, which lead to multiple artistic discoveries along the way but also turned into a whole series of bronze sculptures.
Am I leaving plenty of details out? Yes, absolutely and deliberately. Go talk with John at the @art.roof.top booth at @affordableartfairhk , he is an eloquent speaker with great wit and charm. Don’t forget to ask him about all the details. Is he casting his bronzes by himself? Did he try to sit in The Thinker’s pose? What’s inside that powerful and ravishing sculpture sketch of a female head? (Just don’t tell him that I was behind all these questions; I am fine with being anonymous.)
