Touch Gallery is honored to present an exhibition by Japanese contemporary pop artist JAMSTYLE JARO. Hugely talented and widely popular, his works have captivated audiences in Japan and overseas alike. He has exhibited in Hong Kong multiple times, each drawing extensive attention and enthusiastic response. With this exhibition, Touch Gallery once again brings this sought-after artist to Hong Kong, gathering key facets of his creative journey and inviting audiences to experience his world up close.
Hailing from Japan, JAMSTYLE JARO's practice began with manga and, inspired by Western classical painting, evolved into a deeper aesthetic dialogue. He seeks to bring two seemingly distant visual languages into conversation—the order of classical aesthetics and the vividness, exaggeration, and vitality of manga—and this collision forms the core of his work.
The large-eyed, mischievous children in his work stem from his experience creating messaging app stickers. Finding such characters especially approachable, he adopted them as an ongoing mode of expression. Bright, lively, and blending the adorable with the absurd, they form JAMSTYLE's highly recognizable visual motif.
