Masterpieces of Asian Art from the Okada Museum at Sotheby's

A selection of masterpieces from the Okada Museum of Art will come to auction at Sotheby's Hong Kong this September, filling the Maison with remarkable works of Asian art spanning 3,000 years.

With more than 180 objects, the sale traces a dialogue between the cultural traditions of China and Japan. This collection brings together treasures ranging from rare imperial porcelains of the Ming and Qing courts to the poetic masterpieces of Kyoto's most celebrated artists.

Each work reflects a profound reverence for the natural world, a sensibility that has transcended time and shaped the artistic traditions of both cultures. Highlights include a Tang dynasty amber-glazed figure of a dog, a rare Haniwa figure of a woman from Japan's late Kofun period, and Sakuma Soen's six-panel landscape from the Edo period.
