Polly Lo: Stone & Egg at POINTSMAN

  • Hong Kong Hong Kong (map)

Stone and egg are two entirely different substances; the tension between their characteristics and meanings reflects the complexity of our existence.

Polly’s exploration of the ordinariness of everyday existence is, above all, the guiding principle of her practice. She emphasises the idea of adjacency or contact with an object to establish concrete and conceptual connections between the materials within her series. From painting to mould-making, from casting in jelly to casting in bronze, and on to printmaking—just as we, too, adapt and shape ourselves to suit our surroundings.

The curator’s theme highlights the malleability of the materials used in Polly’s painting and multimedia practice. Polly weaves together different media to form three main series, conceived not merely as three separate bodies of work but as a unified whole—much like how adjacent spaces in an urban landscape influence one another.
