Chan Wai-lap: Jeremy’s Bathhouse at Oil Street Art Space

“DJ, play a song for the lovers”. And for hopeless romantics. And for those who remember that the story of Jeremy, the lonely snail, had its bittersweet happy ending.
But for those who do not remember: Jeremy was a British garden snail with a rare left-coiling shell. As cute as it sounds, that feature prevented him from mating, so there was a whole scientific quest for other snails with this extremely rare mutation.
Of course, it is a metaphor for loneliness, being different, and the urge for human connection, and of course, the exhibition continues Chan Wai-lap’s Swimming Pools series. But all together, this is an exhibition about love and hope.
