Ancient Egypt Unveiled: Treasures from Egyptian Museums at Palace Museum

Marvelous exhibition that made me think how often we see something purely as an important piece of art, forgetting that it was once part of someone’s daily life. Treasured but usable objects. Parts of a ritual. Votive figures. Written history. Some objects were never even meant to be seen by mortals, let alone exhibited for the public — an idea that would be completely incomprehensible to their creators.
However, I totally understand how easy it is to forget this because all these objects are utterly enchanting and fascinating — no wonder Egyptomania spread across Europe and had such an influence.
