Kim Sangdon: The Eggs at PHD Group

Kim Sangdon: The Eggs at PHD Group

They made me think of Hilma af Klint, but that totally makes sense given the fact that the artist is a spiritual practitioner and was born to a family of shamans.
Egg is used in this series as a metaphor for growth from within, the self expansion, but also as something mundane that we often overlook. The form of sculptures and the paintings reminds of energy shields, atmospheric glow or cosmic rays from the covers of old sci-fi novels — or modern-day astrophysics textbooks. Enigmatic and nostalgic. Futuristic yet familiar.
